Our Vision

MVPA Musalla (Mountain View Palo Alto Musalla) provides the space to revive the traditional “Mohalla Masjid” or “neighborhood mosque” in an American context. It caters to the spiritual and social needs of the local Muslim community by providing space and opportunities for daily Islamic religious practices, community bonding, learning, community service and for fostering relationships based on mutual respect with other faith and non-faith communities in the local area.

MVPA Masjid is very accessible to mountain view region. The parking is not large, can accommodate approx 15 cars, so parking in Jummah can be a hassle. You have to be a bit early. There is legal parking on the roads but the devotees park wherever they want during Friday prayers which causes problems to traffic and neighbours. The Jummah qutbah is quick and Salah is short. They have to really increase the number of toilets and need to have a seperate place for wadu which is not there currently. I guess they are planning to renovate as of Sep 2023, they want to expand the Masjid into parking area and add a fence. Biggest disadvantage is there is very less area allocated for ladies. They are too cramped up behind the men, near the exit. Also there is no purdah or veiled segregation between men and women which is surprisingly. A collapsible wooden separator frame would do the job which is easily available. The Maulana mashallah is very good. They bayan was about having no confusion about our own identity as Muslims as we are are all a single ummah. The masjids in west need to have wet bathrooms (bathroom with catch drains, so that the water which falls on floor can drain out). I urge Masjid planning committee to include this while constructing mosques. Also have more no of toilets and wadhu khaane May Allah bless us all.
