Noor Islamic & Cultural Community Center is a non-profit organization which strives to serve the religious, educational, and social needs of the growing Muslim community of Contra Costa County surrounding communities regardless of their origin, race or color.
A Brief History
Noor Islamic and Cultural Community Center was founded in 1990 by a group of Afghan immigrants of Contra Costa County of Northern California. The Noor Islamic and Cultural Community Center, which was initially called The Afghan Islamic Community Center, started operating in its current location, a commercial building at 1545 Monument Boulevard # 4 in Concord. One of the Afghan immigrants, Mr. Saleh Assad, who was a real estate agent, found this building and leased it to the center. Because there were not a lot of Afghan immigrants in the city of Concord and its neighboring cities at that time, the building, a two room office suite on the second floor of a commercial property, was large enough to perform daily prayers, offer language (Dari/Farsi courses), and Islamic teaching classes.
Since August of 2021, the Noor Islamic and Cultural Community Center (NICCC) in Concord has been serving over 600 newly arrived Afghan refugees in the community. Staffed almost totally by volunteers, we have been providing food, clothing, blankets, furnishings, and money, helping to obtain housing and jobs, and assisting with everything from getting public benefits to navigating the DMV and getting children enrolled in school. We have also been providing crisis counseling and cultural orientation, translation services, starting an After School program for K-12 students, and more.

a year agoThe men who run this mosque are barely educated about Islam. They treat it more like a cultural center and somewhere to earn money off it's visitors. They were embarassing and calling men out by their names last Ramadan to give money. The old man also keeps yelling on the microphone while we are in same room as him!

2 years agoWomen come to this masjid wearing short knee length skirts . their hair is barely covered with transparent scarves Half of the jammat just sit eat drink and chit chat during Salah. It’s absolutely against Islamic principles. The board of masjid should educate those who come to this masjid
